La sua pratica pone la vita e l’esperienza di ogni giorno al centro del suo lavoro, che celebra come le attività delle persone trasformino la cultura o diventino esse stesse parte dell’immaginario popolare. Nel museo verrà presentate una selezione dell più importanti videoinstallazioni, fotografie, video e lavori sonori dell’artista. Tra i più noti Valerie’s Snack Bar, che include un banner illustrato da David Hockney e un video.

Until April 28, 2013 Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis presents Jeremy Deller: Joy in People first mid-career survey of one of Britain’s most significant contemporary artists. His practice puts everyday life and experience at the center of his internationally recognized collaborative and interactive work, celebrating how people’s activities transform mass culture or become part of the popular imagination itself.Joy in People will radically and dynamically transform CAM’s entire museum space and features a comprehensive selection of Deller’s major installations, photographs, videos, posters, banners, performances, and sound works. Highlights include Valerie’s Snack Bar, a functioning replica of a Manchester café, originally created as a float for a parade Deller orchestrated in 2009 (complemented by large-scale parade banners, including one designed by David Hockney, and a video of the procession).
